Goodwin, Richardson Selected as Chair, Vice Chair of York County School Board

Jim Richardson & Kim Goodwin will serve as Vice Chair and Chair of the York County School Board (YCSD)

YORK COUNTY — At the first meeting of the York County School Board for 2025, Kim Goodwin and Jim Richardson were elected to serve full terms as chair and vice chair of the board respectively.

Goodwin took over as chair in the middle of 2024, relieving Lynda Fairman of her duties after much public outcry. Richardson also stepped in as vice chair in 2024.

Goodwin was elected by peers Jim Richardson, Mark Shafer, and Zoran Pajevic. Fairman voted against Goodwin’s re-election to chair. Richardson was also elected by his fellow board members after a nomination by Fairman to have Pajevic serve as board vice chair was not seconded.

Goodwin, who represents district three, will begin her first full-year term as chair of the board. Richardson, who represents district four, begins his ninth year on the board.

“Thank you for having trust and confidence in me to lead the board. It means a lot and I’m happy to do it for another term,” Goodwin said after her nomination.

The next York County School Division meeting is scheduled for Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. at York Hall.
