Joint Base Langley-Eustis Named Air Force’s 2025 CINC Annual Award for Installation Excellence Finalist

HAMPTON ROADS — Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE) is one of two Air Force finalists for the 2025 Commander-in-Chief’s (CINC) Annual Award for Installation Excellence, it was announced.

According to 633d Air Base Wing Public Affairs, President Ronald Reagan established the CINC Annual Award for Installation Excellence in 1985 to recognize the outstanding and innovative efforts of those who operate and maintain Department of Defense installations.

“This recognition reflects the hard work, dedication, and commitment of every member of Team JBLE,” said U.S Air Force Col. Matthew Altman, JBLE Installation Commander. “It’s a tremendous honor to be selected as a finalist, and it speaks to the unparalleled teamwork that defines this installation.”

While the award encourages commanders to foster an environment promoting innovative and creative ways of enhancing base-level services, facilities, and quality of life, Altman highlighted that JBLE also owes its success to the unwavering support from the Hampton Roads community.

“None of this would be possible without incredible support from our community partners in the Hampton Roads area,” said Altman. “Their collaboration has been instrumental in our ability to accomplish the mission and enhance quality of life for our service members and their families.”

The Air Force will conduct an in-person Installation Excellence Selection Board visit in January 2025 to determine the overall winner.

The winning installation will receive an Installation Excellence trophy, an Installation Excellence flag, a congratulatory letter from the President, and $1.25 million for quality-of-life improvements.
