WILLIAMSBURG— Latisha’s House Foundation, a local nonprofit serving victims of sex trafficking, hosted its third annual spring concert on May 18 at the Williamsburg Inn.
Latisha’s House Foundation works to create a world free from slavery. The foundation provides safe housing and access to services to help women leave abusers behind and begin their own lives.
The foundation also provides trauma counseling, life skills, job training, medical, dental, and psychiatric care, GED education and tutoring, victim advocacy services, spiritual development and social support. The foundation also provides services for residents to receive identification and access to their social security number and birth certificate.
The evening served as a fundraiser and donor thank-you dinner. Latisha’s House CEO Elizabeth Ameling greeted those in attendance. Guests also heard from a few Latisha’s House residents on how the organization has impacted their lives.
Ameling expressed her gratitude to those who attended the concert.
“We were delighted to see so many individuals coming together to support the mission of Latisha’s House Foundation: Providing restorative care services to victims of sex trafficking, increasing awareness of the huge problem, and working together to establish a world free from slavery. When you give to Free Forever-Latisha’s House you make it possible for us to provide safety, counseling, education, life skills, court advocacy, and a pathway to a bright future,” Ameling said.
During the evening, Movement Mortgage of Williamsburg made a $10,000 donation to Latisha’s House that left Ameling with tears in her eyes.
