JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation at Historic Jamestown is continuing its “Explore Jamestown: America’s Birthplace” campaign this summer thanks to a grant from the Virginia Tourism Corporation’s (VTC) Recovery Marketing Leverage Program.
The initial grant was awarded in October of 2021 for $10,000 and used to establish the “Explore Jamestown: America’s Birthplace” campaign, which is designed to position the Jamestown area as a road trip destination — highlighting the various activities and experiences available to visitors and locals alike.
“There are so many great things for out-of-towners and locals alike to enjoy at Jamestown, and this initiative allows us to spotlight the variety of activities our community has to offer. We hope our specialized monthly itineraries encourage visitors from near and far to pack up the car and head to Jamestown this summer,” said Lauren T. Furey, Manager of Ticketing for Historic Jamestowne.
More than $860,000 in matching grant funds were awarded to 64 local tourism initiatives through the state program. This funding cycle, local partners will provide more than $2.2 million in in-kind marketing value to match the VTC grants. The grants will ultimately impact 384 statewide tourism entities.
