JAMES CITY COUNTY — James City County (JCC) Parks & Recreation is asking for community input in the planning of a community park in the Grove community.
Following a site feasibility study this past January, a proposed site for the Grove Community Park was chosen. The site is locateddirectly on Route 60 in the west end of Grove, and is currently wooded with no existing development.
A Grove neighborhood advisory committee was formed in 2017 to help determine the direction for future neighborhood outreach programs. The committee created and distributed a survey to seek input on residents’ needs for programs and facilities.
Through survey results, staff research and input from residents and local businesses, the 2018 Grove Community Recreation Analysis (Plan) was created.
Survey participants were asked to rank the three most important facilities/equipment that they would like to see available in the community. The top results were a pool, basketball courts, fitness equipment, walking trail, picnic shelters, playground and computer access.
JCC Parks and Recreation is now seeking input from the Grove community and other interested citizens about the park’s creation and its proposed amenities, as well as to encourage the community’s participation in the planning process.
The park could include a leisure pool with spray features, a restroom with picnic shelter, a playground, a paved multi-use trail and parking.
JCC Parks and Recreation is seeking input on the project by Thursday, May 12.
