James City County Parks and Recreation to Offer Spring Break Programs/Camps

JAMES CITY COUNTY — Spring break will be April 4-8 this year, and James City County (JCC) Parks and Recreation is offering a variety of day programs and camps for children.

Days, times, fees, ages and locations vary by program.

Spring break programs include the REC Connect Spring Break Program for Motoaka, Norge and Laurel Lane Elementary School students ages 5-10 from April 4-8 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The program will include trips and hands-on activities.

The registration deadline is March 25.

Day camps include the new Glow-in-the-Dark Art Camp for ages 4-9. On Thursday, April 7 and Friday, April 8, from 1-4 p.m., children will work with a variety of art supplies, including clay, paint and other luminescent materials to create art that will glow in the dark.

The new Claylicious Camp for ages 5-12 will be held on Thursday, April 7 and Friday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to noon. Children will learn how to sculpt different items using air-dry clay and more.

Children ages 7-13 can also learn about chocolate making with Camp Chocolate, Monday, April 4-Thursday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to noon. Kids will dip fresh fruit, make chocolate clusters and create other chocolaty treats.

Monday, April 4-Wednesday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. is the 4-H Archery Camp for ages 9-14. Campers can learn archery from certified archery instructors at the Jamestown 4-H Center.

Kids will learn the basics of the sport, including range rules, care and selection of equipment, as well as practice and games.
