WILLIAMSBURG — Colonial Williamsburg will celebrate the holidays with its annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, co-sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg.
While the annual event went virtual last year due to the pandemic, the festivities will be back in person this year.
The event will begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16 in front of the Courthouse steps, where the community will gather to hear a special reading of The Night Before Christmas.
The community will also hear the story of the first Christmas tree in Virginia and sing classic Christmas carols before watching as Father Christmas himself helps illuminate the 40-foot Christmas tree with over 7,500 twinkling lights on Market Square.
The event is free and open to the public.
