Standup Comedy returns to Williamsburg

Alewerks Brewing Company will host the Brewery Comedy Tour on the third Sunday of every month from June to Oct.

UPDATE: Alewerks Brewing Company reached out to WYDaily with the following quote, “After a huge response from the public, Alewerks has decided to make the shows free events. All seating is now first come, first serve.”

WILLIAMSBURG — As COVID-19 restrictions around the Commonwealth are loosened, a local brewery has announced that it will host an outdoor standup comedy series this summer and fall.

Alewerks Brewing Company, located at 189B Ewell Rd. in Williamsburg, has teamed up with the New York-based agency, Herron Entertainment, to showcase top tier standup comedians every month at its taproom on Ewell Road.

“After the year we’ve had we want people to come and enjoy themselves for an hour and a half,” said Lauren Hallczuk, Alewerks taproom manager.

The open-air shows will take place directly outside the taproom from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the third Sunday of the month from June to October.

Tickets are sold by table with prices ranging from $8 to $12 per person, dependent upon table size. Any show that is canceled due to weather will be rescheduled for the following Sunday.

The June show will feature two nationally recognized comics, David Piccolomini, who has been featured on many programs, including those on NPR and NBC. The show will also feature Zack Hammond, a veteran of the east coast standup circuit.

Tickets can be purchased at eventbrite.com.
