Veterans Day is Monday and across the Peninsula several localities, churches and veterans group are hosting ceremonies to honor veterans of the armed forces.
Veterans Day is a federal holiday honoring military veterans who have served their country. It is not to be confused with Memorial Day, which honors military service members who have died.
WYDaily has compiled a list of Veterans Days ceremonies on the Peninsula. The events below are free unless otherwise noted and occur on multiple dates, not just on Nov. 11.
Williamsburg/James City County
- Flag Setting for Veterans Day – Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to noon.
- Veterans Day Ceremony– Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
York County
- Annual Historic Grace Episcopal Church Veteran’s Day Ceremony– Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to noon.
- Annual Veterans Day ceremony at York Hall- Nov. 11 at noon.
- Broadcasting to Our Troops Overseas & Flag Ceremony– Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.
Hampton
- U.S. Naval Academy Gospel Choir Veteran’s Day Concert – Nov. 9 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Newport News
- Veterans Day Parade- Nov. 11 at 10 a.m.
- Veterans Day Ceremony– Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to noon
