Jamestown Beach Event Park is gearing up for a summer full of visitors, but some of those guests will have to pay more than others.
Starting Memorial Day, the park will charge nonresidents parking fees during the week and weekends from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on holidays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fees will be taken at the park entrance.
Throughout the summer nonresident fees are $4 a day, Monday through Friday for passenger vehicles up to eight passengers, or $10 a day for high occupancy vehicles seating nine to 15 passengers, or $15 a day for buses seating 16 or more passengers.
On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays nonresident fees are $7 a day for passenger vehicles, $10 a day for high occupancy vehicles and $15 a day for buses.
James City County and Williamsburg residents will be exempt from those parking fees but must provide proof of residency. While there is no fee, residents are advised to pick up a free parking decal to help avoid delays or accidental charges at the park entrance. Without the decal, visitors must provide proof of residency at each visit.
Parking decals can be picked up with proof of identification that shows a current address, such as a driver’s licence. If a resident’s identification does not show a current address, then residents can show a lease agreement, utility bill or a voter registration card as proof of residency, officials said.
Residents can pick up decals at the following locations during operating hours:
- Abram Frink Jr. Community Center
- Chickahominy Riverfront Park
- Freedom Park
- Jamestown Beach Event Park (Memorial Day Weekend – Labor Day)
- James City County Recreation Center
- James City County Marina
- Little Creek Reservoir Park
If a guest has a previously issued parking pass, it will remain valid. However, there will be a $5 replacement fee.
There may be separate parking fees for both residents and nonresidents for special events.
