NEWPORT NEWS — A tow truck driver is dead after crashing into a tree Thursday morning, authorities said.
At 1:59 a.m., police said officers responded to the single vehicle crash at Menchville Road and Warwick Boulevard.
There, the “male driver” of the tow truck was extricated from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The tow truck had struck a tree, police said.
Information on what caused the crash and the man’s identity was not immediately available.
