Update Dec. 12: Adonte Devon Patterson, 33, has been arrested by Poquoson Police in connection with a hit-and-run involving a 61-year-old pedestrian Sunday.
Patterson was taken into custody Wednesday.
“The Poquoson Police Department would like to thank our citizens and neighbors for their assistance,” the police said in a post on their Facebook page.
Update: Police are still searching for Adonte Devon Patterson, 33, who is believed to be the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision on Sunday.
Patterson called the Poquoson Police Department on Monday and said he would ‘turn himself in’ after he heard authorities were looking for him, said Poquoson Police Chief of Police Clifford T. Bowen.
Patterson did not turn himself in on Monday and called the department on Tuesday and again said that he would turn himself in.
Bowen said police have information on Patterson’s last known address but do not know of his current location.
Patterson is described as an African-American, 5’11” and 180 pounds.
Authorities are asking anyone who may know of Patterson’s whereabouts to call the Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP.

Police in Poquoson said a 33-year-old Newport News man struck and injured another man with his vehicle Sunday then left the scene.
Police Chief Clifford Bowen identified the suspect as Adonte Devon Patterson.
Bowen said Patterson was identified as the driver after investigators uploaded a video and other posts to social media, the public was able to give police enough tips and information.
Police were dispatched to the scene in the 200 block of Wythe Creek Road in Poquoson at approximately 9:28 a.m. Sunday, shortly after a hit-and-run was reported.
There, a 61-year-old man, a pedestrian, was taken to the hospital with lacerations to the head after he had been struck by a silver SUV – the collision took off the SUV’s side mirror, Bowen said.
Information on the pedestrian’s identity was not immediately released.
Bowen said police secured two warrants for Patterson – one was for a felony charge for leaving the scene of an accident where an individual was injured and the second was a misdemeanor charge for operating a motor vehicle while license has been suspended or revoked.
Bowen said police have “made contact” with Patterson on Monday afternoon and told him about the warrants.
The chief did not elaborate, and it remained unclear why police didn’t just arrest Patterson Monday.
