NORFOLK — Dogs and children alike can play in this new playground-dog park hybrid the city built.
Opening on Dec. 15 at 11 a.m. with a ribbon cutting, Meadowbrook Park will host a fenced dog park and a new shaded playground with slides and climbing areas designed for children from ages 2 to 12.
The ribbon cutting is open to the public.
Recreation, Parks and Open Space worked closely with the local community to bring those new amenities to Meadowbrook Park, located at 1625 West Little Creek Road, according to a news release from the city.
In addition to the playground and dog park, there is also a half basketball court for sports enthusiasts of all ages.
The fenced dog park is a space where unleashed small and large dogs can enjoy open space.
“These new additions provide yet another opportunity for our residents, families and dog owners to get out and play. We appreciate the input of the surrounding community as we completed the park,” said Darrell Crittendon, director of RPOS.
