NORFOLK — Update as of 3:20 p.m. Thursday: Old Dominion University Police have completed a search of the campus and have given the “all-clear” to reopen its Norfolk Campus Friday, according to the university’s website.
Students are no longer being asked to remain in their residence halls.
All classes and activities remain cancelled Thursday.
It is still unclear as to how the university received the anonymous bomb threat nor have they announced any suspects.
Southside Daily has reached out to ODU’s media staff again for comment.
Update as of 9:30 a.m. Thursday: Old Dominion University has closed its campus for the remainder of the day in order to investigate a reported bomb threat, according to the university’s official Facebook page.
The reported bomb threat was anonymous and it is unclear how the university received the threat.
Southside Daily has reached out to ODU’s media staff for comment.
All classes have been cancelled for the remainder of the day. Students should monitor their email for updates from the university.
7:42 a.m. Thursday Old Dominion University has delayed opening its campus to investigate a reported threat.
An alert sent to the campus community Thursday morning announced all offices and buildings at the Norfolk campus will remain closed until 10 a.m. Staff was instructed not to report to campus, and students were told to stay inside their secured residence halls.
All classes and activities until the campus reopens are cancelled.
University officials said they would provide an update at 9:30 a.m.
The threat was anonymous, but its nature has not been made public. Several streets around the campus have been closed.
The school says more than 24,000 graduate and undergraduate students are enrolled and it has more than 3,000 faculty and staff.
