Norfolk man jailed in connection with daughter’s death

NORFOLK — Police here have arrested a local man in connection with the death of his 9-month-old daughter.

Kasiam A. Tinsley, 28, of the 300 block of Nicholson Street, is charged with second-degree murder.

He is being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.

Around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, Norfolk Fire-Rescue along with police officers responded to the 300 block of Nicholson Street for a 9-month old that was unresponsive, according to a news release from Norfolk Police.

The child died shortly after arriving at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.

Police said the child’s death was initially investigated as “undetermined” until the Medical Examiner ruled it as a homicide. Detectives have not released the cause of death or other details surrounding the case.
