As residents plan to fall back this weekend as daylight saving time ends, parks in York County are changing their hours, too.
York County Parks are beginning to switch to their winter hours, according to a county news release.
The following parks are having their hours adjusted:
- Back Creek Park Tennis Courts, 3000 Goodwin Neck Road, Yorktown: While the office will be closed until March 21, the courts will still be available for free play by calling the county’s Parks and Recreation at 757-890-3500.
- Chisman Creek Park, 1314 Wolf Trap Road, Yorktown: The park is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from until March 31.
- McReynolds Athletic Complex, 412 Sports Way, Yorktown: MAC’s Winter hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Nov. 1 through Feb. 28. The complex will remain open for some scheduled activities that run past 5 p.m.
- National Park Service Beach Picnic Area, 800 Water St., Yorktown: The picnic area is open until dusk each day, but restroom facilities are closed between Nov. 1 through March 31.
- New Quarter Park, 1000 Lakeshead Drive, Williamsburg: The park is switching over to weekend-only hours beginning Nov. 4, and will continue through the end of March. The park will be open from 10 a.m. to dusk on Fridays, and 8 a.m. to dusk on Saturdays and Sundays. Public restrooms will be open during weekend hours and park staff will be present. On weekdays pedestrians are allowed to walk and ride their bike through the park, but vehicles cannot enter. Portable toilets will be available for use inside the gate on weekdays. Field trips and events on weekdays can be planned in advance by calling New Quarter Park at 757-890-5840.
- Riverwalk Landing Piers and Lockmaster’s Office, 423 Water Street, Yorktown: Dockage is available but water and utilities will be turned off beginning Nov. 2 through March 31. The Dockmaster’s office, public pier and the restroom will be closed during the same period. The Dockmaster can be reached at 757-890-3370 for questions or reservation requests.
- Wolf Trap Park, 1009 Wolf Trap Road, Yorktown: The park switched to its fall/winter operating hours Sept. 1, running through March 31. Wolf Trap Park will be open between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Chisman Creek Park, the MacReynolds Athletic Complex and Wolf Trap Park are subject to closing during inclement weather. Information regarding weather and closings can be found at the York County website.
