NORFOLK — Old Dominion University will partner with the nonprofit organization Fear 2 Freedom on Nov. 6 to host an “Hour 2 Empower” event.

The event will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the North Cafe inside the Webb University Center on the Norfolk Campus.

Attendees will hear from speakers and college administrators about the issue of sexual assault, the impact of sexual assault on college students and how they can work to end sexual violence on their campus and beyond.

They will also have an opportunity to provide support for victims by assembling Fear 2 Freedom Aftercare Kits.

The kits are provided to hospitals and community organizations since personal items are often collected as potential evidence when victims receive treatment.
They include new clothing, toiletries, a plush “Freedom Bear” and a personal note of support and encouragement.
Founded in 2011, the mission of Fear 2 Freedom is to help restore hope and dignity to survivors of sexual assault while empowering students and communities to combat sexual violence.
Fear 2 Freedom has conducted programs at 24 colleges and universities in nine states and distributed more than 20,000 Aftercare Kits to hospitals and shelters nationwide.
