York County and WJCC close school Friday; widespread power outages reported

Both York County and WJCC Schools are closed Friday.

The closings come as a result of widespread power outages and storm damages Thursday night in both counties due to Tropical Storm Michael, according to county websites.

On Friday morning five schools in WJCC experienced power outages and county officials were inspecting buildings for structural damage, said Eileen Cox, WJCC spokeswoman.

In addition, York County Public Schools and WJCC Schools have closed their offices.

There are no reports of changes to Monday’s school schedule as of 7 a.m. on Friday.
