A coastal flood advisory has been issued for areas adjacent to the James River in the Historic Triangle and on the Peninsula.
The advisory runs through high tide Tuesday.
Up to a foot of water is expected in the most vulnerable areas near waterfronts and the shoreline. Some roads, parking lots and other areas such as lawns near waterfronts could experience flooding.
A coastal flood advisory means that offshore winds, wave action and tides will combine to create flooding along low-lying areas near the shore.
Residents in those area should be prepared for possible road closures and minor flooding.
