The Motel 6 on Richmond Road has been condemned for safety reasons.

Exterior walkways on two buildings of the Motel 6 at 3030 Richmond Road were found to unstable Thursday, Williamsburg spokeswoman Lee Ann Hartmann said.

One entire building was condemned, and a portion of a second building was as well.

Twenty-six rooms were affected, and guests staying in the motel were relocated, Hartmann said.

While the motel had room to accommodate everyone who was displaced, a few opted to stay elsewhere. All those affected have been relocated, Hartmann said.

The safety issue was first reported Thursday, when medics were called to the motel for an unrelated case. The medics noticed the walkway was unsteady and one outdoor stairwell had been blocked off by motel staff.

The medics reached out to the city’s Fire Department and Codes Compliance office to report what they saw. After units from both departments arrived, the buildings were condemned.

The motel’s front desk did not answer when WYDaily called Friday.
