UPDATE: Pedestrian struck, injured by vehicle at Monticello Avenue, Ironbound Road intersection

Update 2:50 p.m. Friday: A man who was hit by a vehicle Friday morning at the intersection of Monticello Avenue and Ironbound Road is in “stable condition,” police said.

The crash is also still under investigation, James City County Police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said.

Update 12:35 p.m. Friday: A man suffered leg and head injuries Friday after he was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Monticello Avenue and Ironbound Road, police say.

James City County emergency dispatchers received a call about a pedestrian-involved crash at the intersection around 11 a.m. Friday, James City County Police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said.

The man had been struck by a vehicle and suffered leg and head injuries. He was flown by medics to Riverside Regional Hospital in Newport News.

His condition is not known, Williams said.

Details of the crash are unclear at this time, and officers are still investigating on-scene, Williams said.

Around 12:30 p.m., a tow truck could be seen towing a light-colored Dodge pickup truck from the intersection.

Local police are on the scene of a vehicle incident at the intersection of Monticello Avenue and Ironbound Road, near the Williamsburg-James City County line.

Ironbound Road going toward Strawberry Plains Road is closed to traffic as of noon Friday.

Police from both James City County and Williamsburg are on scene.

At the intersection, a silver Dodge pickup truck could be seen facing the wrong way on Monticello Avenue.
