
A house fire broke out early Saturday morning on Rockingham Drive in James City County, but the occupants able to safely get out of the building.
James City County Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 5300 block of Rockingham Drive around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, the county said in a news release.
Crews arrived to find fire on the first and second floors of the house.
The home’s occupants were able to exit the home due to a functioning smoke alarm.
Firefighters marked the fire under control at 2:21 a.m.
Fire officials believe the fire may have started in the garage, the release said.
The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants.
