Young women from across the country will be coming to Greater Williamsburg next week to show off their skills on the softball field.

From July 11 through 15, Williamsburg will host the National Softball Association’s Class B Fastpitch World Series for the third consecutive year. The tournament will feature about 75 teams from states including New York, Maryland and Kentucky, said Frank Rachubka of the National Softball Association.

Teams consist of young women under 18. The Bay River Rumble from York County will be one of the teams playing.

Games will be played from 9 a.m. to about 8 p.m. each day at Kiwanis Park and Quarterpath Park in Williamsburg and Stoney Run Park in Newport News. Each team plays about two games a day as they get closer to the championship.

In the event of inclement weather, games will either be shortened or canceled. Updates can be found on the Association’s social media.

The games are free and open to the public.
