As temperatures rise Monday, James City County is opening up two public buildings to serve as cooling centers and help residents beat the heat.
The Williamsburg area is under a heat advisory until 8 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Those needing to cool off can head to the James City County Recreation Center, 5301 Longhill Road, and the Human Services Center, 5249 Olde Towne Road, the county said in a news release.
Both buildings will provide air conditioning and a place to sit down.
Pets are not allowed in the cooling centers, except for service animals.
The Recreation Center is open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. The Human Resources Center is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. See a full list of hours at the James City County website.
