Beat the I-64 construction traffic with this list of lane closures

Those on Interstate 64 next week should expect a series of nightly lane closures — and possibly some delays.

Some lanes and ramps will close between June 17 and June 21. Crews contracted by VDOT will be performing work related to Segments II and III of the I-64 widening project between Route 199 (exit 242) and Yorktown Road (exit 247).

On Tuesday, June 19, drivers should stay alert because there will be a new traffic pattern on I-64 east between the Grove interchange at exit 243 and Jefferson Avenue at exit 247.

Detour signs will be in place to direct drivers around the construction.

A full list of scheduled closures is as follows:

Ramp closures:

• I-64 east and west to Route 60/Busch Gardens (exit 243A), as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• I-64 east and west to Route 143 (exit 243B), as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Route 60 on-ramp to I-64 west, as early as 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• I-64 east and west to Route 199 west (exit 242A), as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• I-64 east and west to Route 199 east (exit 242B), as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m
• I-64 east and west to Lee Hall/Jefferson Avenue (exit 247), as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Route 199 east and west on-ramps to I-64 east and west, as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Jefferson Avenue (Route 143) on-ramps to I-64 east and west, as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Yorktown Road (Route 238) on-ramp to I-64 east, as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Lane closures:

• Alternating single-lane closures on I-64 east and west from Colonial Parkway to Lee Hall (exit 247) June 17-21, starting as early as 8 p.m. until 5 a.m.
• Lane closures under flagger control on Yorktown Road, Penniman Road and Jefferson Avenue at the I-64 overpasses on June 17-23, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
• Single-lane closures on I-64 east and west from 1 mile east of Route 199 Lightfoot exit 234 (mile marker 233) to Route 199 Humelsine Parkway (exit 242), June 17-21, starting as early as 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.
• Lane closures under flagger control on Fenton Mill Road between Barlow Road and Newman Road on June 18-23, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
