Police probe Friday night deadly shooting

NORFOLK — A man who was seriously injured in a shooting here Friday night has died.

The man was identified as Jalen C. Barnhill, who lived in the 300 block of Maple Avenue.

Very few details have been released about the incident as police continue their investigation.

Officers were sent to look into a “gunshot disturbance” in the 7900 block of Thompson Road at around 9:45 p.m. Friday, according to the Norfolk Police Department.

That’s where they found Barnhill with a gunshot wound, authorities said. He died shortly after being taken to the hospital.

Barnhill was 20 years old.
