A 20-year-old man is facing three felonies after he allegedly broke into a York County garage and stole hunting and sporting equipment, including a shotgun.

Kevin D. Mullins, of Yorktown, was arrested March 22 and charged with two counts of grand larceny and one count of breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony, according to York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Shelley Ward.

The charges stem from a March 2 incident when Mullins allegedly broke into a garage at a home on Runaway Lane and stole three longboards, liquor, tools, a crossbow, a shotgun, binoculars and a chainsaw.

The owner reported the items missing the following morning around 8 a.m. The owner told police he went to be and left the garage door open, Ward said.

Mullins was arrested while at a 7-Eleven in the 8600 block of George Washington Memorial Highway. He was taken to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.

Some items, including the binoculars, crossbow and chainsaw, have been recovered, Ward said.

Mullins is scheduled to appear for a hearing at 2 p.m., June 1, in the York-Poquoson General District Court.
