James City County and W&M law students aim to demystify special education

Special education can be daunting, but James City County Social Services is looking to make it easier for parents.

On Feb. 27 from 6-9 p.m., James City County Social Services and the PELE Special Education Clinic at the College of William & Mary are offering free training to caretakers of students with special-education needs, according to a release.

William & Mary law students will lead the sessions. They’ll cover an overview of special education law, the anatomy of an Individualized Education Program, advocacy tips and more.

The event will be held at the James City County Human Services Center, at 5249 Olde Towne Rd. Childcare will be provided. Dinner will be served at 5:15 p.m.
