Two acclaimed authors will visit the Williamsburg Regional Library to speak to young adults this weekend.
William and Mary adjunct professor William McIntosh and graduate A.E. Kaplan will speak about their books and writing process, answer audience questions and sign books Saturday, Feb. 17 in the Williamsburg Library Theatre, according to a Williamsburg Regional Library news release.
The panel will be held between 3 and 5 p.m. and will be moderated by Young Adult Services Librarian Rachael Nelson.
Kaplan and McIntosh will field questions about their recent works, their career paths, their literary influences and inspirations, and their formative years both as readers and writers.
“Virginia is home to many writers who have been published by major publishers, and having these two acclaimed young adult authors with ties to William and Mary and our local area seemed like a great opportunity to connect young people with their work and possibilities beyond Williamsburg,” Nelson said.
McIntosh has written several science fiction books for adult audiences but made his debut in the young adult fiction genre in 2016, when he published “Burning Midnight.” The book follows a group of teens who are chasing a powerful object.
Last year the novel “Watchdog” was published, which shares the adventures of a homeless and orphaned pair of twins, who take on a crime lord and a robotic army with the help of their own robotic dog.
Kaplan’s debut novel, “Grendel’s Guide to Love and War,” was published in March 2017 and was named the Best Young Adult Novel of 2017 pick by both Chicago Public Libraries and Kirkus Reviews. Her book “We Regret to Inform You: An Overachiever’s Guide to College Rejection” is due to be released this summer.
Their books will also be available for purchase at the event.
