– The William & Mary women’s basketball team looks to make it seven in a row as it returns to action for the first time in 12 days when they welcome former CAA rival Old Dominion to Kaplan Arena. The game will be televised on Cox Yurview-Virginia and will tip off of at 5 p.m.
– The game is the second half of a doubleheader with the Tribe men’s team, which squares off with Milligan at 2 p.m. This is the sixth time since coach Swanson’s tenure at W&M that the men’s and women’s teams have played a double-header and the teams are a combined 10-0 in the previous double dips.
– For the third time this season, W&M shot better than 50-percent in a game in the win at St. Francis on Dec. 2. W&M is shooting 46.3-percent (247-for-533) from the floor this year, which is a league-best and good for 23rd in the country.
– Each of the last two seasons, the Tribe has set a new school record for non-conference regular season wins with nine in 2015-16 and 10 last season. The Tribe’s eight victories is good for third place all-time currently. In its last 31 non-conference games, W&M has posted a 27-4 mark.
– After losing its top two scorers from last season, W&M has put, at least, three players in double-figures in all nine games this season. Senior Jenna Green leads the team with eight double-digit performances, while classmate Abby Rendle as well as junior Bianca Boggs have scored in double-figures in seven games. Sophomores Victoria Reynolds (five times) and Nari Garner (three times) have also scored in double-figures, in at least one game, this season.
– One of the Tribe’s biggest question marks heading into the season was who was going to hit 3-pointers with the graduation of Marlena Tremba, Latrice Hunter, and Alexandra Masaquel, who combined for 66-percent of the team’s 3-pointers last season. W&M has responded by shooting 42.3-percent (58-for-137) from range, which is good for first in the CAA and eighth in the country. Sophomore Nari Garner leads the team and is 18-of-38 (47.4-percent) from range this season, which is 30th in the NCAA.
– Not only is senior Jenna Green scoring at a higher rate this season, but she is also finding her teammates at a higher clip. The Clifton, Virginia native has been in double-figures in eight games and is averaging 11.6 points per game. She has added 56 assists, which is good for 23rd in the country, while her 6.2 apg. rank her 21st.
– W&M’s new all-time blocks leader senior Abby Rendle broke the school record with her 256th career block in the game against Davidson. Rendle is second in the country with 44 blocks, but her 4.9 bpg. rank as the nation’s best. She is also just eight blocks away from passing WNBA All-Star Elena Delle Donne’s CAA career blocked shot record. Her 266 blocks are the fourth most active in the NCAA currently.
– Junior Bianca Boggs has had a strong start to the season. She has been the team’s leading scorer three times, and recorded the most points in a game by a CAA player when she scored 33 at St. Francis (Pa.) on Dec. 2. The Waldorf, Md. native has also added 11 blocks and 19 steals. For the year she is averaging a team-high 15.7 points per game, which is second in the CAA, to go along with 4.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.
– For the past four seasons, W&M has led the CAA in steals each year. So far this season, the Tribe is doing much of the same. W&M has 104 thefts, which is second in the CAA and ranks 28th nationally. The Tribe’s 11.6 spg. are first in the CAA and 28th in the NCAA.
