A Walmart employee has been charged with seven felonies after he allegedly stole money from two cash drawers and two inventory scanners from the Walmart Neighborhood Market. He is also accused of stealing four credit cards from a friend.

Anthony Mark Nagy, 27, is charged with grand larceny, two counts of embezzlement over $200 and four counts of credit card theft, according to James City County Police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams.

Officers were dispatched to the Walmart, located at 4670 Casey Blvd., around 1:30 a.m. Nov. 21 after an employee reported a man had taken two cash drawers, Williams said.

The employee told police she went into the “room where cash is kept” and saw a man standing there with two drawers of cash. The man was later identified by police as Nagy.

When Nagy saw the woman in the room, he ran out of the store with an “undisclosed” amount of money, Williams said.

Nagy was arrested later that morning and charged with grand larceny.

During the investigation following his arrest, James City County Police obtained a search warrant for Nagy’s vehicle. Inside, they found four credit cards belonging to an acquaintance and two inventory scanners from Walmart, Williams said.

The acquaintance told police his wallet had gone missing around Sept. 28 after Nagy spent the night at his house.

Nagy was arrested again by James City County Police on Dec. 2.

Nagy is scheduled to appear in the Williamsburg-James City County General District Court at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 11.
