Coming off a thrilling last-second victory over Old Dominion, William & Mary men’s basketball is set to take on Marshall Wednesday night.
The Tribe’s Oliver Tot sunk a buzzer-beating half-court shot Saturday to sink Old Dominion— and Tot’s triumph was featured on ESPN’s Sports Center, reaching number two in the show’s Top-10 countdown.
Down one point with just 1.5 seconds remaining in regulation, The Tribe needed to go the length of the court. After setting a screen for David Cohn, who was double-teamed, Tot received the inbounds pass from sophomore Justin Pierce, took one dribble and let fly from beyond half court. It swished through the net to incite a celebration in the Colonial Capital.
“I only had 1.5 seconds so I didn’t have a lot of thinking to do,” Tot said in a postgame interview. “I just threw it up and as I saw it had good arc, and it went in. Nothing else I can say.”
With Saturday’s thrilling victory in the rear view mirror, the William & Mary men’s basketball team welcomes its second-straight Conference USA foe in Marshall on Wednesday night inside Kaplan Arena. The contest, which is slated for 7 p.m., pits two of the top scoring offenses and best 3-point shooting teams in the country.
Wednesday night will be the Tribe’s Toys for Tots game. Fans are encouraged to donate an unused, packaged toy at the gate to receive discounted $6 admission.
The game will be broadcast online at Tribe Athletics TV via Stretch Internet. Tribe fans can catch the men’s basketball action over the Tribe Radio Network with Jay Colley and Charlie Woollum on the call. The Tide 92.3 FM and 107.9 Bach FM are the flagship stations of the Tribe Radio Network and the audio is also available over the Web at TribeAthletics.com.
