Portsmouth man charged in connection to Norfolk shooting, robbery

NORFOLK — A 30-year-old Portsmouth man is accused of shooting and robbing a man after they got into an argument in Norfolk, police said.

Eric S. Collins is accused of shooting the man after getting into an argument with him in the 700 block of Norchester Avenue. Police responded to the scene around 7 p.m. on Sunday to find the man suffering from a non-life threatening injury, according to the Norfolk Police Department.

The man was taken to Norfolk General Hospital. Police say Collins fled the scene before they arrived. He was arrested in Portsmouth on Monday and charged with robbery, malicious wounding and use of a gun in the commission of a felony.

He’s currently being held without bond in the Norfolk City Jail.
