Police work to identify woman who stole wallet, spent $2,800 at Target

Police are working to identify a woman who stole another woman’s wallet while she was at a Farm Fresh, then used the stolen credit cards to make over $2,800 in purchases at Target.

James City County Police received a report from the victim saying her wallet was stolen around 6 p.m. Oct. 18 from the salad bar area at Farm Fresh, located at 4501 John Tyler Highway, according to a police news release.

The woman told police three separate charges appeared on her credit card “almost immediately,” totaling over $2,800, the release said.

The purchases were all at Target, the release said.

Surveillance footage from Target shows a woman with brown hair, a light-colored shirt and dark pants entering the store.

Anyone able to identify the person in the photos or know who may have been involved in this incident should contact Investigator Schugeld at 757-259-5159 or [email protected].

Those with information may also contact the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers to the Crime Line may remain anonymous, do not have to testify in court and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if the information leads to an arrest.
