NORFOLK – Motorists heading to Newtown Road via I-264 will be rerouted this weekend due to construction beginning Friday night.
Starting a 9 p.m. Friday, work on the I-64/I-264 Interchange Improvements Project will close the northbound Newtown Road exit 15A. Traffic signs will direct motorists instead to the 15B exit.
Westbound traffic will be directed to Center Drive while southbound travelers will use Kempsville Road to get back to Newtown Road.
The exit will remain closed through 5 a.m. on Monday morning while crews pave the exit ramp.
Upon reopening, the exit’s traffic pattern will shift to the left. Both Newtown and Greenwich Roads will still be accessible via exit 15A.
