One person was killed and another injured during a crash Monday night on Interstate 64 in James City County, police say.
Virginia State Police were called to a single-vehicle crash at mile-marker 231, near Croaker Road, around 10:04 p.m. Monday, according to Virginia State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya.
Police believe the driver and one passenger were traveling eastbound on I-64, ran off the road into the median and struck a tree, Anaya said.
The vehicle overturned and ejected both occupants. The driver died at the scene and the passenger was transported to Riverside Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
The identities of those involved in the crash have not been released, but will be once police confirm notification to family members, Anaya said.
The Virginia State Police Reconstruction Team investigated at the scene.
Police will release more information as it becomes available, Anaya said.
