Police have arrested a 31-year-old man who they say unlawfully entered vehicles in Williamsburg and stole a firearm, money and other items.
Char Michon Branch Jr., of Newport News, was arrested Sept. 18 after he allegedly stole several items from cars, according to Williamsburg Police spokesman Maj. Greg Riley.
Williamsburg Police responded to the 200 block of Lewis Burwell Place around 5 a.m. Sept. 18 after receiving reports of a man trying to open car doors, Riley said.
When officers arrived, they located and detained Branch.
Officers continued to investigate and realized Branch had entered several vehicles and stolen items, including cash and a firearm, Riley said.
He was then arrested and transported to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
Branch is charged with possessing a concealed handgun, six counts of tampering with a motor vehicle, three counts of grand larceny and one count of petit larceny.
