Police have arrested a man they say sold a couch to a neighbor before robbing him.
Justin Cloyd Smith, 35 of James City County, was arrested in Norfolk early Monday morning, according to James City County Police Department spokeswoman Stephanie Williams.
Police believe Smith sold his neighbor a sofa and later forcibly held the man and took his wallet.
The alleged robbery occurred in the 100 block of Blow Flats Road in James City County on Aug. 29, according to Williams.
The victim purchased a couch from Smith earlier in the month. Smith later contacted the man to see if he could check the couch for a set of keys, Williams said.
Upon arriving, Smith allegedly grabbed the man from behind and took his wallet before fleeing on foot, Williams said.
Smith’s last known address was also on Blow Flats Road, Williams said.
The victim was uninjured and no weapons were used in the alleged robbery, Williams said.
