Motorists traveling on I-64 through York County overnight should prepare for detours and lane closures.
The I-64 westbound off-ramp to the Merrimac Trail- Exit 243B- will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the nights of August 14-17.
According to a press release from the Virginia Department of Transportation, the closures will allow VDOT crews of contractors the opportunity to “perform bridge construction activities” on the I-64 overpass.
Motorists will be detoured through Exit 242A to Route 199, then will follow signs for the Route 143 on-detour, and will then exit right onto the Route 143 exit.
Additionally, single lane closures will alternate between lanes on east and westbound I-64 at multiple points between August 13 and 17.
One of the closures will begin between Lee Hall (Exit 247) and Jefferson Avenue (Exit 255). Lane closures will take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
East and westbound lane closures will also occur from the Colonial Parkway to Lee Hall, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
