Lane closures will shut down several ramps, roads, and lanes around Interstate 64 this week as part of the I-64 Widening Project.

The closures will occur in the vicinity of the Fort Eustis Boulevard, as well as between Lee Hall and the Colonial Parkway.

According to a news release from the Virginia Department of Transportation, the lane closures began Sunday and are scheduled to end Friday.

During weeknights, there will be alternating single-lane closures on I-64 east and westbound between exit 250 and exit 255, also between the Colonial Parkway and exit 247, starting as early as 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning, according to the release.

On and off ramps will also be affected by the closures. From Sunday to Tuesday, the eastbound off-ramp to exit 250B as well as westbound exit 243B will be closed as early as 9 p.m., according to the release.

Two underpasses will also experience closures this week.

The right lane in both directions on Fort Eustis Boulevard at the I-64 overpass will be closed from Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the release said.

Jefferson Avenue will experience 20-minute road stoppages at the I-64 overpass in both directions from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. between Sunday and Thursday, the release stated.

Project information, construction updates, and additional weekly lane closures are available on the VDOT website at http://i64widening.org/ and on Twitter and Facebook.
