Police: Woman caught with guns, drugs, cash at traffic stop
A Surry woman was arrested by James City County Police June 30 after they allegedly found thousands of dollars in cash, marijuana, cocaine and two handguns in her 1991 Honda. Monick Denise Wright, 32, is charged with possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a concealed weapon without a permit. Martin’s closes its doors, employees clock final shift
The Martin’s Food Market in Monticello Marketplace shut its sliding doors for the final time July 10 at 6 p.m. Martin’s announced it would be closing for good in May. The Virginia Board of Workplace Development released figures indicating that 183 employees would be laid off when the store closed. Read more here.
Williamsburg man arrested after trying to burn house down twice, police say
A Williamsburg man was arrested for allegedly trying to burn down his own home in an insurance fraud scheme — twice. Police say 44-year-old Dennis Wade Tooley is suspected of starting a house fire at his residence in the 200 block of Thomas Nelson Lane on Nov. 1, 2016. He allegedly set fire to his home again July 10. Read more here.
Baby turtle fitted for 3D printed legs after losing them in fire
