Independence Day closings in the Historic Triangle

Here is a list of holiday closings for Independence Day in the Historic Triangle:

York County offices and public libraries will be closed July 4 in observance of Independence Day, according to a York County press release. In addition to being closed Tuesday, York County courts and the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service will also be closed Monday, July 3.

The Waste Management Administrative Office, transfer station, drop-off area and the Virginia Peninsula Public Service Authority will also be closed Tuesday.

Curbside recycling will remain on its usual schedule, as Red Week Tuesday routes will be collected. Regularly-scheduled curbside garbage collections for the remainder of the week will be moved back one day. No garbage will be collected Tuesday.

For the City of Williamsburg, all offices in the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street and the Williamsburg-James City County Courthouse will be closed July 4, according to a City of Williamsburg press release. Both branches of the Williamsburg Regional Library will also close for the holiday.

The Quarterpath Recreation Center will close at 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 3, and will not reopen until Wednesday, July 5. Waller Mill Park will remain open July 4.

There will be no garbage collection Tuesday, and garbage collection schedules will be bumped back one day for the remainder of the week. Recycling pick-up will take place Wednesday, as usual.

The city advises anyone who experiences a water emergency July 4 to call (757) 220-6196.

For James City County, all county offices, libraries, courts, the Recreation Center and the Abram R. Fink Community Center will be closed July 4, according to a county civic alert. County courts will also be closed Monday, July 3.

All county parks, including Freedom Park, Chickahominy Riverfront Park, Little Creek Reservoir Park and the James City County Marina, will remain open. However, the stores and offices for Freedom Park will be closed.

Convenience centers and garbage transfer stations will also be closed for the holiday.  Curbside recycling will continue on its normal schedule.
