Police are seeking two men who they say passed a counterfeit bill at a 7-Eleven and then later convinced a 14-year-old to do the same.

James City County Police are looking for Jermihia Davis, 22, and Dedrik Taliaferro, 19, in connection with two counterfeit $100 bills that were passed at a 7-Eleven in James City County in May, police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said.

Williams said the two men entered the convenience store, located at the intersection of Longhill and Centerville roads, on May 5 and gave the clerk a $100 bill labeled “for motion picture use only.”

The men bought some juice, Davis gave the clerk the $100 bill and requested change back, which the clerk gave to them, police said.

Once the men left, the clerk realized the bill was counterfeit, Williams said.

Five days later, on May 10, a 14-year-old male entered the same 7-Eleven and allegedly attempted to get change for another counterfeit $100 bill.

The clerk saw the bill was fake before giving the change, and notified police. Through the investigation, police discovered the two older men, who were relatives of the 14-year-old, gave the teen the bill and told him to get change for it, Williams said.

Police have obtained arrest warrants for both Davis and Taliaferro, charging the men with obtaining money by false pretense, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, conspiracy to commit a felony and passing counterfeit bills.

Davis is about six feet tall and 175 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. His last known address is on Centerville Road in James City County.

Taliaferro is about 5 feet ten inches tall, 195 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
