UPDATE: Woman, child injured in shooting on W. 38th St. in Norfolk

Norfolk Police DepartmentUpdate 7:30 p.m. Sunday:

A toddler and an adult woman have been injured after they were shot Sunday afternoon on W. 38th Street in Norfolk, police said.

Police responded to a report of a possible gunshot victim in the 800 block of W. 38th Street around 4:45 p.m. Sunday, according to a Norfolk Police Department news release.

Police arrived and found a woman and child with “apparent gunshot wounds,” the release said.

Neither victim’s injuries are considered life-threatening, the release said.

Paramedics took the child to the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, and the woman was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, both in Norfolk.

The incident remains under investigation.

At 7:30 p.m., there was no other information on suspects or the shooting, the release said.
