Police are searching for two people they believe robbed a man at gunpoint at a York County hotel.

Police believe a man and woman stole $3,300 in cash, a 31-inch flat screen TV and two Samsung laptops from a man staying at the La Quinta Inn & Suites, located at 600 Bypass Road, York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Dennis Ivey said

Deputies responded to the La Quinta Inn & Suites early in the morning March 15 in response to an armed robbery, Ivey said.

A man who lives in one of the hotel rooms reported he was sleeping around 4 a.m. when there was a knock at his door, Ivey said.

He opened the door and saw a man, who was holding a black handgun, and a woman standing outside.

The pair pushed the man onto the floor of his room and pointed the gun to his head, demanding money, Ivey said.

The man told the pair he didn’t have any money, but the woman went looking through the hotel room and found $3,300 in cash in a drawer, Ivey said.

They also took his cell phone and destroyed it during the incident.

The incident remains under investigation.
