NORFOLK — A woman was able to get out of her car safely after a light pole fell on it Wednesday afternoon in Norfolk.

The woman was waiting at a stop light at the intersection of Northampton Boulevard and USAA Drive around 1:40 p.m. when a gust of wind knocked over a light pole. The pole hit her car, landing across her windshield, according to an email from Norfolk Police Department spokesman Daniel Hudson.

The woman wasn’t injured, and no other cars were damaged.

A westbound turn lane has been closed, and Virginia Dominion Power is on the scene to repair the pole. Dominion representatives were not immediately available for comment.
