A 51-year-old woman was arrested without incident Dec. 30 after she allegedly robbed a York County bank earlier that afternoon.

Cheryl Exum has been charged with robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony in connection to a robbery at the Union Bank in the 5000 block of George Washington Memorial Highway, according to a York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office news release.

Police say a black woman wearing a wig and sunglasses entered the bank around 1 p.m. Dec. 30, approached a bank teller and passed a note implying she had a gun. The note demanded money, the release said.

She was given an undisclosed amount of money and was seen driving away from the bank in an older model Lexus, the release said.

Her last known address is in the 40 block of Gainsborough Place in Newport News, according to police.

She was arrested in Newport News later the same day of the robbery.
