A new neighborhood and program could provide safety and comfort for Historic Triangle residents living with memory impairment.
Edgeworth Park at New Town, a neighborhood designed for seniors with memory disorders, is slated to open this year with 21 suites and one two-bedroom apartment, according to a Life Care Services news release.
Along with the neighborhood will come Heartfelt Connections, a customizable program that incorporates the life experiences of residents into their care. These include details about their families, friends, career and hobbies, according to the release.
“With the increasing incidence of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, our new community will offer people with memory loss the sense of purpose, satisfaction, dignity and quality of life loved ones want for them,” Executive Director Qudsia Chaudhary said in the release. “Heartfelt Connections is designed to meet a growing need.”
In addition to a neighborhood devoted to memory impairment care, Edgeworth Park will include 62 assisted living apartments for those without memory disorders, according to Teresa Evans, director of community relations at Edgeworth Park.
