A bookkeeper at Bruton High School has been charged with six counts of embezzlement following an investigation by the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s office, according to a YPSO news release.
The investigation, begun in June, tied Charlene Flood-Liggon, 53, of Newport News to the theft of several thousand dollars from the school between Dec. 14, 2011, and April 5, 2016.
On Wednesday, Flood-Liggon was arrested and charged with five counts of felony embezzlement and one misdemeanor count of embezzlement. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.
