For a married couple, the sixtieth anniversary means a diamond. For Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation, it means pool parties. Six of them.
Parks & Recreation will mark its 60th anniversary on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. with bashes at all six recreation centers. Each one has an indoor swimming pool. There will be music, pool floats, bounce houses, dodgeball, crafts and fitness demonstrations, according to the department’s website.
Rec-center members can attend the celebration for free. Non-members may purchase a day pass, which costs $7 for a child and $9 for an adult.
“It should be an awesome party…and a good activity for those who want to get out of the heat to enjoy a fun afternoon with the family,” Julie Braley, a spokesperson for the department, said in an email.
The party locations are: Bayside Recreation Center, 4500 First Court Rd.; Bow Creek Recreation Center, 3427 Club House Rd.; Great Neck Recreation Center, 2521 Shorehaven Dr.; Princess Anne Recreation Center, 1400 Nimmo Pkwy.; Seatack Recreation Center, 141 S. Birdneck Rd.; and Williams Farm Recreation Center, 5252 Learning Cir.
